The (un)forum 2020
is a virtual candidate forum coordinated by The Chamber For a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro
in partnership with three other chambers: The Chatham Chamber of Commerce
, the Greater Durham Chamber of Commerce
, and the Hillsborough/Orange County Chamber of Commerce
. Instead of a traditional, in-person candidate forum, we are using a dynamic digital platform, called ShineBiG
, to engage candidates in conversations, which are shared widely through our social networks. All candidates who filed for the Chatham, Durham, or Orange County Commissioner races as well as the Orange County Schools Board of Education race were invited to participate. (Write-in candidates were not included.) Chamber staff members offered technical support to all participants. The (un)forum technology automatically shuffles the order in which the candidate videos appear to foster a more level playing field. The aim for the (un)forum 2020
is to help our collective chamber network of more than 2,000 employers and 200,000 employees living and working throughout our region to learn about each candidate and their positions through a convenient and easy platform. The (un)forum is now in its fourth election cycle: visit (un)forum 2019
, (un)forum 2018
, and (un)forum 2017
. For questions, contact Katie Loovis
, Vice President for External Affairs, The Chamber For a Greater Chapel Hill, at KLoovis@carolinachamber.org
